    Hello all....

Ive been running two ESXi4 hosts with a free license until I bought Essentials Plus and added them to vCenter. I have assigned licences to them, but I can't activate vMotion in VMKernel properties. When I tick the box, I get an error saying that I need to upgrade the license.

When I check the licensing on the host, I see the following:

Product: vSphere 4 Essentials Plus Licensed for 2 physical CPUs (1-6 cores per CPU)

    License Key: x-x-x-x

    Expires: Never

    Product Features:

Up to 256 GB of memory

    Up to 4-way virtual SMP

    vCenter agent for ESX Server

    vStorage APIs

    VMsafe

    dvFilter

    VMware HA

    Data Recovery

It seems to be taking the license, so how can it be licenced for HA but not vMotion?

    thanks!

Are you running vCenter 4.1 and are the hosts on ESX(i) 4.1?

Vmotion is only available in v4.1

Ahhh. the vCenter is 4.1 but the hosts are 4.0.

That really wasn't too clever was it, sorry :smileysad:

I'll upgrade the hosts first then!

    thanks.
