vMotion - The operation is not allowed in the current state

Hi Guys,

i have DELL FX2 with 4x FC630 - ESXi 6.7u3 A08 dell customized image with FCoE connectivity to storage DELL SC3020/4020 etc.

Today i wanted migrate all running vms from host 1 to other host, because i planed upgrade FC630 (BIOS, Drivers, Firmware) but some VM i cannot migrate. I had many error messages like:

  • The vMotion failed because the destination host did not receive data from the source host on the vMotion network. Please check your vMotion network settings and physical network configuration and ensure they are correct.
  • The operation is not allowed in the current state.
  • A general system error occurred: Fault cause: vim.fault.GenericVmConfigFault

After some time (15-20minutes) i tried the vmotion and the move was OK.

When i looked to the vmkernel.log i saw:

The SC34 and SC32 are datastores, where are problem VMs stored.

Its possible that VMs are "something" locked on datastores SC32 and SC34 ?

No snapshots, no connected .iso...

Thx for advice

Tom

How many VMKernel are created for vMotion traffic? One or more?
