vCenter server 5.5 U2 to U3a

I've been told that this update process is just extracting the .iso and a next, next, next install.

I'm downloading the iso now. I just want to get some verification from the community and make sure there aren't any gotcha's anyone can think of before I pull the trigger.

TIA!

Hello

5.5 U2 to U3 is just a simple upgrade. Everything is wizard driven.

Best practice: Backup your vCenter DB before proceeding with the upgrade.

If it's a VM, take a snapshot and then upgrade. Just in case if something breaks you have a restore point. If everything goes well, then consolidate it

Hi Alceryes,

As mentioned by Suhas, it is a pretty straight forward upgrade. It shouldn;t cause any issues as such.

Best practice would be to backup the database. Below is the link to the release notes of U3a, it can be helpful in case anything goes wrong.

We have upgraded from U2 to U3A a few times in our lab over the last 2 weeks.

No issues, pretty much click next, next, next and wait. Reboot. Done.

You'll be fine just snap your machines and backup your DB's just in case Murphy shows up.

Goodluck
