vCenter VM moving to another cluster

In our environment, vCenter server is located on same vCenter cluster. Now we have a requirement to move the vCenter VM to another cluster on the same vCenter. We have a separate distributed switch on source & target Cluster(vCenter VM is on distributed switch) and datastores are shared between the cluster.

Our action plan to move vCenter to another cluster is given below, please review and suggest if this plan is fine

  • Create a standard switch on source & target clusters for the vCenter port group.
  • Power off the vCenter server, login to host webclient where the vCenter is located and assign the Standard switch portgroup to vCenter VM, then power it on.
  • Once vCenter server comes online, login to vCenter and validate if vCenter works fine.
  • Poweroff the vCenter server, login to host webclient again and unregister the vCenter VM, then register it on the target host cluster. Assign the Standard portgroup to vCenter VM and power it on.
