vCenter Server Appliance

I installed vCenter Server Appliance; changed the IP address given by DHCP to a static IP address. However, https://ip address of appliance :5480/

doesn't work.

I can ping the IP address, no firewall in between, I used IE and Firefox.

Make sure vmware web services are running,

Check logs for error during service starting C:\VMware\Infrastructure\tomcat\logs

Take a look here too

hope that helps

Did you start the web services?

login to the appliance, click on services tab.

start webservices client.

The cause of the problem was overlapping IP addresses 😉

additional questions:

is it correct that, if I enable Auto Deploy with vCenter Server Appliance, then

Auto Deploy appliance has same IP address as vCenter Server

Auto Deploy appliance repositary is on the vCenter Server host

Where should I run my Power CLI command ? on a Windows box ? (vCSA run on SUSE11)

To be specific:

Where / how can I enter "deploy-cmd's"

Auto-deploy doesn't appear as a VM; documentation says

....Auto Deploy is now configured and prompts you to log in as vi-admin. As vi-admin, you can add servers to Auto Deploy and run commands

from the Auto Deploy console......
