upgrade vcenter 5 license to 6 license violation

I built a new vcenter 6 server and now I need to upgrade my vcenter license on the portal to 6. Can i keep vcenter 5 license running while migrating the hosts to vcenter 6? or is that under license violation?

why don't you let your vCenter 6 in Evaluation mode while migrating your ESXi hosts from old to new vCenter.

then get upgraded license for vCenter 6 and apply that. this way you don't have to worry about violation at all.

Once you upgrade the licence from existing to new vCenter. I believe using an existing licence a violation.
