upgrade *only* ESXi 5.x to 6.0 without upgrade of other components

We have a few farms with all components in version 5.1, e.g. esxi 5.1, vCenter 5.1, vSphere PowerCLI 5.1, Update manager 5.1, ...

We are planning to upgrade the hypervisor to ESXi 6.0, but only this component and all others still running with the 5.1 versions.

Is this possible?

And is it possible in a mixed scenario, which means step by step upgrade of the servers, so a few servers are running with 6.0 and the others still with 5.1 ?

Hi,

You cannot manage Vcenter 5.1 with Esxi 6.0 host but vcenter server 6.0 supports Esxi 5.1.
