upgrade on Dell Optiplex 740 fails

hi

I have ESX 4.1 installed on a DELL optiplex 740

When trying to upgrade to 5.0, as the kernel loads I get this purple "screen of death"

See attached purple screen of death and kernel log

Incompatible hardware? Hope not since the h/w worked for 4.1 ....

Would appreciate any suggestions...

Try disabling your onboard NIC? Looks like maybe they don't support it anymore. It looks like the driving is page faulting.

correct

There is no ESX 5 driver for the  onboard broadcom NIC on the ESX 5 installer nor on the website
if you disable the NIC in the bios, then the installer won't "purple screen of death"  but the installer will stop as it does not detect a NIC
