~ # /etc/init.d/hostd start

[306534] Begin 'hostd ++min=0,swap,group=hostd /etc/vmware/hostd/config.xml', min-uptime = 60, max-quick-failures = 1, max-total-failures = 1000000, bg_pid_file = ''

hostd started.

~ #

8. this KB Service mgmt-vmware restart may not restart hostd in ESX/ESXi (1005566)

/var/run/vmware # ls -l vmware-hostd.PID watchdog-hostd.PID

ls: watchdog-hostd.PID: No such file or directory

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root                  6 Sep 30 16:22 vmware-hostd.PID

/var/run/vmware # cat vmware-hostd.PID

well might have except support reset the system,, hostd.log file is new.

So it now connects but the problem went unsolved.

Not a  disk issue.

Know issue in 5.0U1 but it was resolved in 5.0U3 except in my case.

Since the system was reset, all logs are gone, no way of knowing what failed.

Thanks all
