This might be useful , before proceeding

You can verify whether existing vCenter database is compatible with vSphere 5.5 or not using the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes.

  1. 1.Select the Radio button “Solution/Database Interoperability”
  2. 2. Under Select a VMware Product, Select VMware vCenter Server and Select the Version from the drop-down.
  3. 3. Select the Database version of your existing vCenter server and click on Add
  4. 4. If your Selected Database version is marked with Green tick Mark, Then our  database version will be supported for vCenter 5.5 installation or Upgrade also ueful to .Verifying the Upgrade path for  vCenter Upgrade

You can verify your Hardware Model is supported to install or upgrade to ESXi version 5.5 using VMware Compatibility Guide

If you are uing VUM let me know , I can provide you the step by step by Guide to perform it Smiley Happy

Just follow the video from this blog post: Upgrading to VMware ESXi 5.5 using the Interactive Installer | VMware Support Insider - VMware Blogs

And before start the upgrade, remember to check if your hardware is on HCL for ESXi 5.5.
