type of license edition required

Hello everyone,

I would kindly ask everyone in the community if you can please suggest me what kind of licensing should I go for.

My scenario is as follows:

2 Dell power Edge 720 server with 2 physical processors in both servers (Intel Xeon E5-2650.v2 8core ).

Physical RAM =256 Gb on each servers.

I can't make out which license edition of vsphere should i go for.My company is an SMB so according to the cost and our requirement I don't need enterprise licenses.

Thanking all of you in advance for the appropriate answers.

That really depends on your workloads, what your business requirements are, future Projects (Virtual Desktops perhaps), Growth over the next couple of years etc.

Analyze these elements thoroughly and write down every benefit/downside of every element you have analyzed. Then you should be able to come up with the answer yourself and most important of all - you will have a justification for your choice.

Hi

Regarding license editions, it depends on your requirements (business & technical) as Ibrar mentioned.

For comparing license editions you can check this link: vSphere Editions, What is vSphere? Leading Virtual Infrastructure | VMware Asia Pacific

What I've seen in SMB company, they normally start with installing evaluation license to get familiar with the features and decided to buy vSphere Essentials Kit or vSOM Acceleration Kit.

As described in the VMware website, vSphere Essentials Kits are for small businesses and combine virtualization for up to three physical servers with centralized management with vCenter for Essentials.
