I got a 5.1 cluster havng some HA issues.

a few vms are showing this

this virtual machine to become vsphere HA protected and HA may not attempt to restart it after a failure.

when i try to reconfigure HA on the host . it times out and fails.

any idea?

Instead of reconfigure HA on the affected host, have you tried disable HA on the cluster and enable again ? See: VMware KB: Virtual machine status changes from Protected to Unprotected

is there any problem with not specifying any datastore heartbeat luns?
