the cause why vCenter Server service stopped

Hi everyone.

I'm having trouble which is the vCenter server suddenly stopped.  When I checked system log of windows server which vCenter is running, service of vCenter are suddenly stopped and never start again.

Do you have any ideas which cause above this issue??

FYI,  this issue is probably not caused by size of database space using by vCenter since C drive since windows server  has 15GB free space.

This can have numerous causes.

Please have a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003926 for troubleshooting.

Have you checked the vpxd log file?

If the service will not start try running the service in standalone mode.

    • go to the c:\program files\vmware\infrastructure\VirtualCenter Server\ folder in cmd.exe window
    • Type vpxd.exe -s
    • This attempts to start the vCenter service and outputs all logging to the stdout or to the command line.
    • Follow the logging / debug information to help determine what the issue is.

This will help and will log all the information why the service is failing in first part. After determinig the issue you can proceed further.
