Ranjana,

please look through the vminst.log file located at TEMP% and see if you could see any related errors.  If not follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below;

1. Verify that the guest operating system you are trying to install VMware Tools in is fully certified.

2. Verify that the correct guest operating system is selected

3. Verify that the correct ISO image is being loaded. For more information, see Ensuring the correct VMware Tools ISO image is loaded (1003910).

4.  Verify that the VMware Tools ISO image has not been corrupted. For more information, see Determining if your VMware Tools ISO image is corrupt on an ESX/ESXi host (1004820).

5. If installing on a Windows operating system, ensure that you are not experiencing any issues with your Windows registry. For more information on troubleshooting registry issues with VMware Tools, see Unable to upgrade existing VMware Tools (1001354).

6.  If installing on a 64-bit Linux guest operating system, ensure that there are no dependencies missing. For more information, see VMware Tools installation fails to start the guest operating system daemon on 64-bit Linux Guest Ope....
