sun x4600 esxi build 171294 installation failed

can't install esxi from iso (build sun x4600 esxi build 171294) this iso has correct md5.

error is "The installation operation has encountered a fatal error:

Unable to write image to the selected Disk. This may be caused by bad sectors on the device or another hardware problem."

VMware ESXi 4.0 Installable (CD ISO)

Version 4.0.0 | 171294 - 06/22/09

i was tried to use volume from fc array, and this error happened again.

before this, I was used build 164009 installed by myself on internal drive, and this worked without problems.

any suggestions?

I recommend to install build 164009 and upgrade host with patches using host update utility.

I don't even know why and where exactly it is available on site. If you go to http://www.vmware.com/download/vsphere/ - there is no such build.

Please check your FC SAN configuration and whether it is supported officially by ESXi 4 HCL;

Follow the instructions of installation on SAN; It's not the same thing as install on local SAS/SATA drivers.

If not supported, you can try install this build on your internal Hard disk.

sorry, I didn't understand your question.

I think as far as "Sun Fire X4600 M2" in hcl - my x4600 is in hcl too?

The link says "Sun Fire X4600 M2" needs "American Megatrends Inc." "0ABIT126". BIOS.

And check with hard disk too.

Is it the same driver that you install build 164009?

this is BIOS version, BIOS 126 (0ABIT126), this is latest, and installed version.

and on this system i setup and run previous build, as i explain.

I post this issue there because I was expecting that where can be someone from vmware tech staff.

please don't abuse me by attempts to explain the first improvised manner (HCL and something mystical like bad build/bios number)

this build didn't be installed on sun x4600, only workaround - install previous release and patch.

now, all ours x4600 in production and i can't test anything.
