ssh from esxi host fails

Hi

I might be missing something obvious but can't seem to figure it.

Basically I can ssh out from by esxi5 host.

I can connect to it using ssh.

I internet commands I tried seem to work (ping, wget).

But ssh won't no matter what host I am trying to connect to (I can ping said hosts from esxi and I can connect via ssh from other non esxi hosts).

Any idea / pointer much appreciated

Did you check the firewall rules?

Nope - good point.

Can't do it right now - would outbound ssh be bocked by default ?

Bydefault SSH cleint will be blocked in ESXi 5 firewall. Check the status, if tis blocked enable it.

Select the host from vSphere client and go to Configuration -> Security Profile -> Firewall -> Properties. See the attached pic.

Either I am mislead by the question but it seems he enabled SSH on his hosts and tried to SSH from one host to another host which failed. This is normal behaviour since outgoing SSH is disabled by default and can be enabled in the configuration tab.

It was indeed the ssh service being blocked outbound by the defult firewall - did not think about THAT Smiley Happy.

Thanks ! All set !
