snapshot name limits

Jump to solution

Hi, googled this extensively, but can't seem to find any guidance on snapshot names length or character limits.

I have a user that is getting

Create virtual machine snapshot

expinsys1app11

'Exponare 4.5+ TrustRelationship(TR)+testdata+ 4.0 .NET frwk (4feb2014) + OracleSetup(32BitClientOSMipro)' is

invalid or exceeds the maximum number of characters permitted.

Just want to give him  some ground rules for this... any pointers would be appreciated!

Thanks

Bill

The snapshot name field looks to have a maximum of 80 characters, which is less than that of your example.

Why not use the description field?

Kind regards.

oh and we are using CloudForms portal and I am not sure the description field is exposed through Cloud Forms as I don't see the end user experience.... but will look int it
