snapshot logs

Where can I find out when a snapshot was created and removed? I don't see anything for the VM in question in vsphere client in the snapshot manager, tasks, or events.

Thanks!

I usually use RVTools. The vSnapshot tab will give you what you are looking for, plus a whole bunch of other great information.

I guess the information is normally within the events as I just tested one but it must be an older event. Are these logs archived somewhere?

they will probably be stored somewhere in your DB if they are no longer present in the Tasks & Events Tab. Where that location is in your DB, I'm not sure.

also you can check the vmware.log file for the VM in question

They should be stored within the DB if they have fallen off the active events. You can use a technique similar to:

to find what it is you are looking for.
