server will not boot after reboot

I rebooted one of my vmware servers and it will not come up.  it gets stuck at:

/xorg.v00 fatal error:11 (volume corrupted)

Does anyone have an idea what it means?  It was working fine until the reboot.

Just a guess. To me this looks like an installation on a defective SD/USB device?

Install is on a HDD...I'm suspecting that too but I was hoping I was wrong.

Hmm, I would suggest that you re-install vSphere. Is the volume part of a RAID set? Does it only contain the ESXi installation? If so you could delete the RAID volume and start from scratch. Don't know what else you can do here really...

I've seen this before on hosts that boot from SD where the SD card required reformatting, but never on a physical HDD...
