Hi,

Did you installed your ESXi with the custom ISO for dell? In the custom ISO, all the vibs needed are included.

Julien.

It seems this varies from vendor to vendor. I just checked my HP DL585 G6 and Dell R815 hosts and neither have the serial number listed. The Dell do however show the boot device, but this is not shown on the HP hardware. On both types of of hardware I have the latest hardware management agent VIBS installed so I am assuming this in simply not implemented in these types of hardware.

Cheers,

Jon

Interestingly, I am not using a customized ISO, but I am able to see the service Tags and asset tags displayed in both HP as well as Dell servers. Just to cross check before reinstalling, can you make sure that the VC Inventory service is running.??

Well, let take it from the hardware side one by one. Have the Service tags and the serial numbers updated in the BIOS of the server. If i am right, it should be in the Dell DRAC option during boot.
