  • 1.  sSphere not recognising processor properly

    Posted Sep 01, 2010 08:46 AM

We have installed a new vSphere installation with two IBM 3850 M2 servers each with four intel E7450 processor (6 core) and have installed full-fat ESX4.1.0 (Build 260247). The vCenter is running v4.1.0 Build 258902 on a Windows 2008 64bit install with SQL 2005 installed locally. Licensing is Enterprise.

When we look at the summary for the hosts via the VI Client it shows them has having 24 cores (correct) BUT it thinks that they have 8 physical sockets each of 3 cores!.

The result is that the two hosts installed take 2 x 8 socket licenses instead of 2 x 4.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards

    Bill
