root password

i am having an issue with my root password. This is the second time i have to reset my root password. For no reason i don't know i type my root password on vSphere client window i keep getting an error message " incorrect username or password" i changed twice already  and i know i am typing the correct password. I am using ESX 4.1. Can someone tell me what's the issue ?

it may be becaue keyboard(country setting) of the ESX is different from the VI client keyboard setting.

This may seem goofy, but are you using a laptop or mini keyboard that remaps keys when the "num lock" is set?

I once had a keyboard/software issue where the num lock LED and the real num lock state were mismatched.

i using Dell laptop i don't know i never configure it to do any remap key. i know this is strange. anyway i changed the root password and will see.
