Everytime if my esxi host is improperly shutdown like due to power failure then Rescan of HBA is required. I want to know is that a known issue. If anyone can help then please help me on this.
Anyone who can help me this?
You ask whether that is a known issue .
If I have a look at my recent customers I would say yes - at least I warn all my recovery customers that a powerfailure of the ESXi host can have very ugly results. The range of issues varies from harmless - like in your case - up to severe VMFS-damage.
I would suggest to backup your LUN partition tables and the VMFS-metadata regularly .... and of course - buy a fat UPS
Ok....Thanks for ur reply!!!!!
But is that documented anywhere?
hmm - I have not seen anything that in that direction
to be able to recover from worst case damage you could dump the first 2 Gb of each Lun to a safe location - best each time you created a new VM or made other significant changes like adding snapshots, deleting VMs and so on
