removing vib effort worth it?

My company has stopped using an application that had installed a vib on about 50 or so hosts.  The service for the vib is stopped. While removing a vib is fairly easy, (maint mode, putty command, reboot, exit maint), on 50+ hosts it is time consuming.  Is it worth it to go through the effort or just leave it?  I know leaving it out there has a slight possibility of leaving non-maintained security vector, possible future host upgrade incompatibilities, but what about resource utilization for this one vib, since the service related to is stopped (and disabled)?

Thoughts and opinions please.

Thanks,

GB

From what you explain, I wouldn't care too much about this, and consider doing the housekeeping (uninstallation) with one of the next maintenance/patch cycles.

If you don't have the time for this I'd say skip it until the next Patch round. That would be the best time to remove the vib. As to the resource usage of just one vib, it's negligible.

You can make it yourself easy by removing the VIB through PowerCLI. I made a little something for that a couple of years ago:

Ofcourse you still would have to reboot, but this would be easy with a new Path Round.
