i got a dell r710 server that cannot boot from pxe. but when the host boots up in esxi, I assgined a vm to the same vmnic0 vswitch manageent group and tried to pxeboot the vm and it works.
Are VLANs involved? pxeboot is not working out of the box with tagged VLANs. Either you have to check if the BIOS of your network card supports VLAN settings for pxe (eg. Emulex PXESelect Utility) or you need to use a nativ (port) VLAN.
