problem with CPU Limite [Powering on virtual machines fails with the error: MAX VCPUs limit is reached]

This Error

Failed to power on VM
Could not power on VM : Number of running VCPUs limit exceeded.
Max VCPUs limit reached: 200 (4096 worlds)

I've searched and I found the link below[http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102012...]
But it was not for version 5
How do I solve the problem in version 5?
Do not restrict or limit the construction to add a virtual server with the CPU is possible?

Hi all,

I do some search in Google, but there not too much usefull result regarding "maxvCPUs".

But for your reference, our machine is using "0".

Please find in my attachment for more details.

Version 5 has the same method - they just haven't updated the KB yet.

Has anyone solved this problem? I have run into the same thing while trying to start up 400 micro vm's.

I have a 12 core(24 cores with HT enabled) and I am trying to start up 400 micro vm's.   I have been stopped at 300 and my system is no where near overloaded.

Thanks for any help!

Its a design limit, not a 'bug', per se.  So no one is going to be able to 'fix' it, until VMware changes the limits.

This is clearly defined in the vSphere configuration maximums. There is a limit of 25 virtual cpus per physical core in previous versions.
