VMware KB: Troubleshooting NTP on ESX and ESXi 4.x / 5.x
Configuring ntp in esxi is quite tricky.... I also struggled a lot... but in 4.1 timeframe..
what is the command output of ntpdate and ntpq..... from esxi console..
If commands are not available copy these binary in esxi /bin folder...if doesn't work let me know.
