Hi all,
In my VM, I open taskmanger and see that RAM is using about 2,57GB
But i see in vCenter the Active RAM using is
Is there anything wrong?? i need to see the true value of RAM show in the taskmanager of a VM in the performance tab of vCenter
thanks all.
Help me please!!
Remember active memory is a measure of pages being actively accessed - rarely does an OS actively access all memory pages so if this is a VM at steady state you will see a delta between active pages and what the OS itself is reporting as used -
if you see the cpu, it isnt doing anything really.
the ram could have been swapped out by the host (esxi server), and allocated to other vms.
the vm thinks it is still holding on th that memory but that 2.5gb only has a small part in use.
the rest of that ram could be the hosts' swap file
I just wrote a little about this topic earlier in the week. Hopefully, it's what you're looking for. If not, let us know.
