nvram file from unknown VM

I'm clear out a datastore so I can unmount it and the only remaining data in the datastore is a folder with a single .nvram file.

The weird part is that the folder has the name of a existing server (Server1) but the nvram file inside of it is a name of a completely different server that I dont believe exists. But the nvram file haws a modified data of 3 days ago so it was in use recently. If I check the existing servers VM settings (server1)  the HD's, configuration file and working location are completely different datastore.

So what I am trying to figure out is what vm is this nvram from so I can safely delete it? I cannot think of a way to find this out since naming is wrong.

Hi BrennanB,

.nvram – is a binary formated file that contains BIOS information much like a BIOS chip.If deleted it is automatically recreated when the virtual machine is powered back on.

Hi,

Please check if you have performed any virtual machine rename operation, in 5.1 virtual machine rename does not rename the actual virtual machine NVRAM file.

Hope this helps .

Thanks and Regards,

To delete the NVRAM file does the VM just need to just be powered off?

Yes, power off VM and rename that.
