not able to ISO media to ESX 4.0 from VM

Hi,

I have ESX 4.0 running on NEC Express 5800 R-120a model. I have 2 VMs running windows XP. I am not able to mount any media to it. When I try connecting the local media to the VM, the error message comes mentioning "a connection to the host could not be established.: I have checked and there is no network issue. ESX is accessible fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Besides, I have opened almost all the ports in the firewall just to make sure there is no port conflict.

Check running vmware services. Probably vmware-hostd is not running.

Try /etc/init.d/vmware-mgmt start

Hi,

I have already done that but no help Smiley Sad It still says the same error. It is part of Virtual center 4.0. I have also tried restarting vpxa service. Infact rebooting the ESX server did not help either.

I just tried connecting directly to ESX via vsphere client and now I am able to mount the media. Any reason why mounting not working from VC?
