msinfo32 and device manager show different cpu count in win 2008 R2 guest OS

Hi Group,

This inconsistency happened only on one server running windows 2008 r2.

The device manager shows 6vCPU but the msinfo32 shows only 4.

Could you please guide me in the correct direction on how to understand this situation/issue.

i've checked the msconfig, and few other blogs but before i make any changes i would like to know if its designed that way in any specific combination.

Kindly let me know if you need any further details to help me understand the process or issue here.

Thank you.

What kind of edition of Windows Server 2008 R2 do you have? If it is standard then it has limit of 4 CPU.

Thank you Linjo/wmarusiak

It was 2008 R2 standard.

But i would like to know what would happen to the remaining 2 vCPUs, will they be used by the Guest OS?
