I am getting this error when trying to vmotion a VM from one DC to another DC. the source and destination network are different. any idea?
both source and destination are on esxi 6.0
Tdubb,
Are the both the host satisfy the v-motion capability
1. Same SSO domain and linked vCenter.
2. Port group of vm are same in the both the vCenter
3. Try to migrate the test vm from one DC to another DC and share the error message where it is failing.
Refer KB the below requirement are satisfy
Cross vCenter Server vMotion requirements in VMware vSphere 6.0 (2106952) | VMware KB
Are the both the host satisfy the v-motion capability
1. Same SSO domain and linked vCenter. yes
2. Port group of vm are same in the both the vCenter. No going to different vlan and IP address on vm will need to be changed after the move
Eager to know about the issue,I havent come across such type of issues.
is it your VM configured with any pass through device?
I am gonna blatantly post the network checker points:
MAC address compatibility on the destination host
■
vMotion from a distributed switch to a standard switch
■
vMotion between distributed switches of different versions
■
vMotion to an internal network, for example, a network without a physical NIC
■
vMotion to a distributed switch that is not working properly
vCenter Server does not perform checks for and notify you about the following problems:
■
If the source and destination distributed switches are not in the same broadcast domain, virtual machines lose network connectivity after migration.
■
If the source and destination distributed switches do not have the same services configured, virtual machines might lose network connectivity after migration.
However, I do have a tendency to ask you to check on the licensing and the nics in member of the d/vswitch
