Hello,
I trying to apply a memory hot add to a oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5 machine.
I checked the OS in the compatibility matrix and the memory hot add is supported.
I only can not seem to find a way to activated the added memory on the oel machine.
On a red hat linux machine it is no problem, that works, but I can not apply the same way of working on the oracle enterprise linux machine.
Does anyone have a solution on how to get this memory activated without rebooting the machine.
I tried to start the acpi_memhotplug module but I then get the error fatal: Module acpi_memhotplug not foud.
Thanks for the help.
Best regards,
JB
Is the CPU/Memory hot-add options been enabled in the settings of the VM?
/Rubeck
yip. It is enabled.
And I can add memory to the virtual machine.
The thing I don't know is how to enable this added memory in my oracle enterprise linux 5.5 OS.
On a redhat system I use the following steps and it works great.

On the oracle enterprise linux system I can't apply these steps.

VM Ware KB article basically shows the same steps..
are you SURE the memory is available to the guest?
I increased the memory to the virtual machine.
how can I be sure that the memory is available to the guest?
What I don't have is this folder /sys/devices/system/memory
Under the system folder there isn't a memory folder.
