manual 'cold clone' of win2003, defeating the BSOD 0x7b due to missing scsi drivers?

Hi,

Due to HW failure, I am forced to do a cold clone of a windows 2003 server. As I don't have proper licenses, I can't use converters cold clone CD.

I did a manual clone using dd and gzip, and extracted to a virtual machines disk. The guest boots but of course get a 0x7b due to lack of vmscsi drivers.

What approach would you take to fix this?

see if the below helps.  You may have to change your Controller to SCSI

You could try using VMware Standalone Converter with the source and destination servers the same. You may want to try using different controller types depending on what the original physical controller was.
