maintenance mode - configure number of simultaneous vmotions/migrations

Hello,

I am looking to understand and possibly tune the number of vmotions/migrations that ocurr at the same time during the following events:

1. Enter maintenance mode

2. Host failure

I see this article but is that just for manual operations such as selecting multiple guests and hitting migrate in vsphere client?

http://rcmtech.wordpress.com/2010/10/08/change-number-of-simultaneous-vmotion-operations-in-vsphere-...

I appreciate the clarification.

The article you reference is for the concurrent vmotion events vCenter can handle not the host - fromthe 4.1 configurations maximum  http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_config_max.pdf - with 1 GB NICs a host can support up to 4 and with 10 GB NICs 8 - but of course this also assumes there are sufficient resources to support that - now on to you questions -

1. Enter maintenance mode

With the approriate available the limits in the configurations maximums doc will howl true - so 4 with a 1 GB NIC and 8 with a 10 GB NIC

2. Host failure

None because if the host is failed you will not be able to vmotion.
