local datastore does not stay connected if reboot host

I recently extracted two separate hard drived from a crashed server and placed them into another server.  The smaller drive has ESXi6 on it and the second contains the VM files.  the new server powered up fine and ESXi6 booted fine with all the config's that existed on the old hardware.

Logged into vsphere client and attached the datastore.  all was then fine. domain workstations were able to connect to the VM.

Later, the host was powered off by power failure in building. I powered up host, connected to VM and found the datastore gone. In its place was a label starting with \vmf.......

I reconnected the datastore and all was fine again. Sonce this condition bothered me I shutdown VM and host.  Then I powered ip the host and connected to host bia vsphere client. Lo and behold....datastore gone and the VM was kabeled \vmfs......

Need help. What is going on?

Install another hard drive and test your problem with that, if problem is still exist, try to reinstall ESXi.

If not, your hard drive is faulty.
