kernel:BUG: soft lockup - CPU#5 stuck for 72s! [khugepaged:100]

I am running ESXI 5.5 on a mac-mini with 16GB RAM.

I observed that a few of my RHEL-6-64 guest OSes occasionally lock up with the

above message. The interesting thing is that it's always khugepaged (pid varies between systems though)

Has anyone seen these before and has a solution?

I don't  really know where to start looking..

Hi there,

how many Physical Cores does your ESXi host have and how many VMs does it host? This might seem as a CPU scheduling issue of some sort.

ESXI reports:

processor Sockets:          1

Cores per Socket:            4

Logical processors:          8

I'm currently running 6 VMs... each configured with 2 CPUs
