We're starting to deploy VM's and I'm trying to duplicate the monitoring that we currently do on physical systems. I've got SSH onto the hypervisor figured out, and hpacucli for managing RAID HBA's, but I can't find a viable ipmitool for our other Nagios tests -- we eg. monitor "ipmitool sensors" for environmental alerts. Any thoughts? RHEL6 doesn't seem to want to statically compile/link at all, and none of the binaries I've tried work, going back even to RHEL4 -- ESXi lacks eg. libreadline.
Having another system talk to the BMC over the net isn't an option. Any thoughts? It seem as though old versions of ESX did ship with ipmitool, but not the current.
