installed VMware. raid set up for VM's and storage

I'm new to esxi world so really looking for some guidance for my setup.  I have installed esxi running of a USB with ssd's that I would like to use raid 10 for the virtual machines.

I then have several hard drives that I would like to use for the virtual machines storage. They will also need to use raid.  I have plenty of capacity for ssd and HD.

I can't find much on raid setup for ssd vm but enough for HD storage. Appreciate any guidance, internet link.

depending on the raid controller you can setup ssd raid the same as normal disks

usually you use ssd as flash drives to improve performance on a Hdd Raid setup.

what kind of raid controller you have? maybe your raid controller doesn't support ssd disks

I was going to use the raid software within esxi?

Will this not do? I need a raid controller I have Asus m5a78l m USB 3 mobo which has raid support.

you mean vsan?

for vsan to work you need at least 3 esx hosts

and then you need to make sure your disk controller can do pass through so it will see the ssd disks

see HCL list on vmware site

else you need a raid controller
