installation - should hard disk be formatted?

I am (at this moment) installing ESXI VMware on a server , now i am wondering if i should have formatted the HD befor or does ESXI this for me?

If not i guess i have to restart everything and first format the Hard Disk.

Anybody to advice me?

Welcome to the VMware Community forums. The ESXi install process will repartition the install drive that you choose. You don't have to format it in advance.

A good nic to add is the Intel Pro / 1000 GT. See www.vm-help.com for what hardware ESXi 4.0 can see.
