increasing LUN size, showing up in Extend Device, but not in "Increase Datastore Capacity"

!file:///C:/DOCUME1/tsco47/LOCALS1/Temp/moz-screenshot-3.png!So I am trying to "fix" issues that I have inheritated with my new role as VMware admin.

We have many VM's that were created without leaving adaquatefree sapce for VMotion-ing a machine while it is powered on.

So I am trying to go back and add some disk to the LUNs at the VMware level, not Windows level.

Normally you would goto Configuration, Storage, click your datastore, then click properties.

The next screen is the one I attached, it shows the 7.75 total capacity, and then I had the SAN guy increase it to 10 gb so that I can make it available to VMware.

So I click the increase button. It shows loading for a minute and then it doesnt show anything here.

I thought I would see the extension of the LUN he just made for me.

Any insight ot ideas would be much appreciated

Is the datastore the only partition on that LUN?

Does your datastore already have extents?

Did you connect directly to the ESXi host or did you try to grow the disk via vCenter Server?

Connect directly to the ESXi host and rescan the storage adapter, then try to grow the LUN again.
