Hi Master,
I want to ask a question about raid drive in ESXi OS file. look forward your kindly reply, thanks in advance.
When I download ESXi 5.5 u3b image from VMware office website, I want to check raid vib list use powcli command( get-esxsoftwarepackage), I found default there have 4 Raid drive in esxi os
lsi-mr3 0.255.03.01-2vmw.550.3.68.3... VMware 2015/8/31
scsi-megaraid-sas 5.34-9vmw.550.3.68.3029944 VMware 2015/8/31 8:1...
scsi-megaraid-mbox 2.20.5.1-6vmw.550.0.0.1331820 VMware 2013/9/19 6:0...
scsi-megaraid2 2.00.4-9vmw.550.0.0.1331820 VMware 2013/9/19 6:0...
so I think above raid drive is packed by VMware ESXi OS standard image,
so my question is what's different between lsi-mr3 and scsi-megarid?
Does lsi-mr3 drive is equal to scsi-megraid-sas ? which company is owned for them ?
what's meaning for both of them?
I did two test , one is I use esxcli software vib install -v /vmfs/volumes/XXXXXXX to update related drive (eg: I updated lsi-mr3 to 6 verison , the lsi-mr3 0.255 version was remove after reboot)
(upated scsi-megaradi-sas 5.505, and the scsi-megaraid-sas 5.34 was removed after reboot as well)
another one is I customized ISO files use powercli command . add new raid drive (for example, I add other raid drive which is lsi-mr3 6.0 verson, and then there have two lsi-mr3 version are exsit in a same esxi os image)
so I want to konw if have any problems in production environment if I use this customize ISO file which included two lsi-mr3 raid drive?
