In a VMware environment under vcenter 4.1

one cluster with  hosts(4.1) having  storage luns

one host esx 3.5 separately not connected to cluster and having local storage, running with  some VMs

now i want to migrate VM's running in the esx host 3.5 to cluster which is having three esx  hosts4.1

how to migrate VM's? what are the possibilities?

the esx 3.5 is  disconnected in vCenter4.1

Welcome to the Community - I would take a look at the upgrade guide - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_upgrade_guide.pdf - it will have the deifferent methodologies for moving the VMs

Hi,

  • Attempt this type of upgrade with at least 10GB of free storage space.
  • To upgrade ESX 3.5 to ESX 4.1, use vSphere Host Update Utility.  This tool checks the free space correctly. However, this utility is not  available with ESX 4.1.
