HI
i have two clusters in data center. One cluster is running with HP proliant DL series servers and the other cluster(destination ) is running with cisco B series blades (both are intel processors) ..i have enabled EVC still i cant to live migration .
any suggestions.
Are both clusters running hardware with the same CPU brand? Intel or AMD I mean by that. The migration of VM's between clusters is supported, as long as they share the same datacenter and (in example) CPU brand. EVC can't do magic and only works within a certain brand of CPU's
If you click migrate, and then choose the destination, it should tell you why it isn't able to vMotion (not live migration, but that's just to be punctual) it to the destination cluster.
Hope this helps,
source and destination or Intel Processor and i have enabled EVC on both clusters
Intel "Merom" Generation (Intel Xeon Core2)
What does vSphere mention as the reason for validation not succeeding?
Are there any informative messages shown by vMware that might shed a little more light on what is going wrong with your environment?
As a side option, you can use Quick Migration provided in Veeam Free edition. Using it, you can migrate with minimal disruptions one or more VMs between ESX(i) hosts, datastores or both.
Cheers.
