I have a remote offfice esx host that keeps getting disconected from my corp vcenter. when this happens vcenter cannot ping the host. there is no firewalls between the vcenter and the host. only way to resolve this seems to be rebooting the host.
any idea?
There might be intermittent network disconnection issue, and failed to heartbeat ack to vCenter server. How your ESXi host and vCenter server connected ?. During the issue, other machine be connected from corp office ?
Also check ESXi server can be connected at that time from a vSphere client locally.
Check if your smartd is on need to off it
refer this KB

Please check the network latency between vcenter and esxi host. if esxi heartbeat is not received in time to vcenter, it keeps disconnecting.
You can change the timeout value of config.vpxd.heartbeat.notRespondingTimeout and observe.
i stopped smartd and still cannot ping. its regular mpls connection betwwen vcenter and remote. avergae 5-9 ms ping. esx host can ping vcenter. vcenter cannot ping esxhost.
vcenter can ping vms on the esx host fine
