high cpu ready

if a VM on on esx server is having high cpu ready readings such as maximum 1791 millisecond readings , is it best to increase cpu shares or increase cpu reservation.

High CPU Ready ?

What may work out better is reducing the number of multi vCPU VM's on the host.

I agree with ChrisDearden, multi vCPU VM's could cause this issue. I wouldn't recommend to modify any settings, unless you know the cause of the issue. This could also be some Limits on e.g. Resource Pools etc.

I thinkits hard to say - reservations are different from scheduling problems ( of which high CPU time is a symptom )
