What is the ESXI version and build number you are running this VM on. Also mention the tools and VM hardware version. Any recent changes you made to this VM?

Run hardware's diagnostics on the esxi host hardware. Also check if you see anything in the SEL(System event logs) on the hardware logs. Check in vmkernel and vobd for any machine check exception error messages to identify any hardware issues.

Thanks,

MS

If the physical host is in cluster, then firstly migrate this VM to another host and monitor it.

Secondly you can do, upgrade vm version to 10 (ESXI 5.5)

Give a shot with xperf, make sure firmware, ILO etc are up to date on physical host.
