firewall in VM

Hi,

Pardon my ignorance, but is it a good idea to set up a firewall in a VM running under ESXi?

I'm testing out the whole vSphere/ESXi environment and am considering to migrate all the

servers to VMs.  As I'm testing it out, during the hardware inventory listing, I came to the

firewall and was thinking of virtualizing it; but as I'm new to virtualizing (in terms of servers),

I don't know if this is a good/right practice.

Thanks

Ed

There are a lot of virtual appliance that are firewall and/or proxy.

So could be possible, and in most cases also reasonable.

I quite regularly use virtual firewall / routers. They work very well as virtual appliances.
