esxi5.5 vlan tag error

esxi 5.5,vmnic with ixgbe driver(intel 82599 10G) can't recv packet with vlan tag,but tg3 driver(NetXtreme BCM5719  1G) can.help

Hi,

Can we get some more info about the setup. Is it VGT, VST. Is it ESX to ESX traffic or VMs are involved? What is the ixgbe driver version you are using?

thankyou,now you can see my conf in this VM.I think it’s vst cause I set vlan 4095 all of my VM

I use a Flow meter to create and send pkt in vminc5 or vmnic3 to test esxi network.

I use pktcap –uw –uplink on esxi to cap what I send.

And the topic is what I meet

damn it! I find I have set intel 82599 VF(esxcfg-module ixgbe -s max_vfs=4,4)! Now I close it and reboot(esxcfg-module ixgbe -s max_vfs=0,0),it work ok.But why open the 82599 VF can't recv vlan tag pkt,it's also a question!!

SR-IOV should not affect VLANs in the way you're describing. There are some limitations regarding VLAN filtering on 82599 cards but it should not impact you.

Have you tried newer drivers? There are 4.5.2 and 4.5.3 available on HCL

Some older versions had vLAN tagging issues, please update to the latest one.
