esxi vmkernel BusyBox shell memory

hello,

is it possible to increase the BusyBox shell memory for ESXi. I would like to run some scripts in ESXi for instance virtual machine backup scripts. Thanks

Hi Ray,

in Thick Client it should be like this - go to Configuration ->System Resource Allocation Tab, click on Advanced, and in the tree view just keep hitting B key until you reach "busybox" & their PIDs, then just click on Edit Settings and allocate your memory as you see fit. I am not sure if these will be persistent after reboots though.

Hope it helped - cheers!

Edit: Oh, maybe just increasing the memory reservation for "init" & fiddling around with the limits would be more efficient - but that's up to your testing Smiley Happy I'll be glad to hear the results.

Stop by my blog if you'd like 🙂 I dabble in vSphere troubleshooting, PowerCLI scripting and NetApp storage - and I share my journeys at http://vmxp.wordpress.com/
